With David A. Conner on hiatus in his home town of Frederica for four weeks, George W. Atkins took over the writing of the weekly letter. In the February 7 edition, Atkins writes an open letter to Conner in which we hear just how valued his weekly letter had become (and how much Atkins needed him to return and resume the writing).

Conner resumed writing the letter with the edition of February 14.
