On the East Wall of the LBC Museum is a stained glass window presented by Fannie Leonard’s Sunday school class. Today I’ve added a page that provides some biographical data on the girls of that class, as well as a transcript of the February 23, 1906 edition of the Milton News letter in the Milford Chronicle. The latter describes how the class raised the money to fund their window.
While Fannie Leonard and the girls each have a personal story, the tale of their collective effort to raise money for one of the Milton M. P. Church stained glass windows is extraordinary for the fact that it occurred at a time when few women could display such initiative and execute a plan with such success. For most of these girls, this would probably be the most exciting and independent moment in their public lives.
